Sinies: This picturesque village is located on the hills in the north east part of the island 25km away from the center of Corfu town. It was built by its inhabitants in the beginning of 20th century when Old Sinies village was abandoned. Old Sinies was built as a refuge from pirate raids and abandoned when the coastline became safe. The land is situated in an area called Vathilakoma Sinion and it's positioned a municipal road. IMPORTANT LAND PURCHASE ISSUES
 
  1. If the land m2 are close to the minimum required (for example the land is 2100 m2 and 2000 m2 is required) it is advisable to have a second and independent land survey carried out.
  2. Check the m2 that are legally permitted to be built on the land.
  3. Always make sure (through your lawyer) that the land is not registered as “forest” in which case building is not permitted.
  4. Check the road access to the land. This could be the subject of dispute with a neighbour and/or expensive to construct.
  5. Check the distance to access water and electricity as this too may be expensive to bring on site.
